seed testing
We provide seed testing services for turfgrass, forage, cereal grains, vegetables and flower seeds and others.
Purity analysis
Purity Analysis is available for all kinds of seeds. The test determines the physical composition of the seed. The working sample is separated into four components, 1. Pure seed, 2. Other crop seed, 3. Inert matter, and 4. Weed seed. Purity Analysis is absolutely necessary to do any kind of trading of seeds.
germination
The Germination test is available for all kinds of seeds for trading and planting purposes. The seeds are planted under optimum conditions for the emergence and development of the embryo. The test is indicative of the ability of the seed viability.
mill check
Mill Check is a test required by the seed cleaners to adjust their machinery in order to get the best quality seeds. The information provided by the lab should not be used for labeling purposes. It helps the seed processing people in cleaning and blending.
moisture test
Moisture Test (MT) is available for all kinds of agricultural and vegetable crops. MT is important from the point of storage and shipment of the seeds.
ryegrass growouts (GOT)
The GOT is used for Ryegrass as a supplemental test to verify the contamination of annual ryegrass in perennial ryegrass samples.
GOT Benefits for Production and Distribution:
It helps to know the trueness of the ryegrass whether it is contaminated or not. Knowing this helps in the marketing of seeds.
Tetrazolium Testing (TZ)
This test is used for all kinds of seeds for evaluating their vigor and viability. The TZ test depends on the action dehydrogenase enzymes activity. Tetrazolium solution is colorless, and when it comes in contact with hydrogen ions released during the enzyme activity, it turns into formazan, which is red in color. So, the living cells turn red while the dead ones remain colorless.
Accelerated Aging Test
This test is available for beans, corns, cotton, pea, peanut, pepper, wheat and other agricultural and vegetable crops. The Accelerated Aging Test (AAT) functions by exposing seeds to the high temperatures and high relative humidifies for two to three days. Under the above conditions, high vigor seeds will withstand the conditions and shall still perform better than low vigor seeds.
COLD TEST
This test is generally used for field corn and sweet corn. Colt Test (CT) is yet another seed vigor test used for the crops that are planted early in the season. The test involves planting seed in the soil and with high moisture and low temperature to evaluate the performance of the seed.
WARRANTIES
Tests are carried out in accordance with AOSA rules unless otherwise specified. Tests are based on the sample submitted and may not reflect the condition of the seed of the seed lot from which the sample was taken. Our liability is therefore limited in all instances to the sample received and price for making such analysis.
